Parenting and Family support

Family Support – The Family Support Team provide a link between parents and the Children’s Centre through providing information and advice plus delivering services to support the ongoing social & emotional development of children & their families in the local community.
Services include:

  • Ante Natal/post natal home visits - Family Support provide information and support in your own home. We provide a pack containing useful information regarding the services we offer at the centre and in the local community. The pack also contains a home starter safety kit & other useful items.
  • Home Visiting - further support can be provided in the home by referral from a Health Visitor or self-referral by the family.
  • Parent Workshops - 4 workshop sessions have been specifically designed for parents of babies from 6 months to 2 years of age. These sessions cover weaning to communication & play skills. 
  • New Mums & Dads Group - Each session provides the information you will need to know as new parents.
  • Outreach sessions - available at the local Stay & Play groups run by the Children’s Centre, which includes healthy eating & oral health, where toothbrushes & toothpaste can be collected every 8 weeks for the under fives.
  • Baby Play & Feeding Support Group – Drop-in with your 0-1 year old for a stay & play session, where you can get feeding support together with fun information sessions. We also have the breastfeeding councillor call in on a monthly basis for specialist advice.

Family Play Course – led by the Centre’s attached teacher and Early Communication Worker.  This is a 6 week course aimed at families with children 2 – 4 years old and focuses on the value of play in the home.
