Helping Employ Lone Parents does exactly as its name suggests. The course is specifically for lone parents on welfare benefits who wish to return to work for 16 hrs or more each week. The course is run from Isle of Wight Children’s Centres, we can assist with travel and childcare costs to allow clients to attend. The course is completely voluntary you just have to want to return to work, even if you don’t know what job you want to do yet. We offer a relaxed informal training environment and the training and support is delivered by a tutor who is herself a lone parent. The idea is to return lone parents back to work and allow them to be financially independent again. The only requirements to join the course are to be unemployed, on welfare benefits and want to return to work. The course runs in school time only and by joining it doesn’t affect your benefits.
